Obituary of Mary Agnes Dixon

Mary A. Dixon, beloved sister and aunt died, September 29, 2022 at the age of 100.  She was the eldest child born to Michael and Lillian Dixon of Syracuse, NY.  Mary graduated from St. Lucy’s Academy, Class of 1940.  She retired from Nationwide Insurance in 1987.  Mary was a longtime parishioner of St. Charles Church in Westvale.  She loved sharing family stories and entertaining her many nieces and nephews at holiday times.

Mary was predeceased sister and brother-in-law, Grace (William) Schoff, brothers and sister-in-law, William and Patrick (Barbara), and nieces, Martha Byrne and Kathleen Dixon. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor (Harry) Burns and brother, Robert (Nancy) Dixon and several nieces and nephews.

Mary’s family would like to thank Hospice and the wonderful caregiving team who enabled her to stay in her own home this past year.

A Funeral Mass for Mary will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 10am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Syracuse. Calling hour will be held prior from 9-10am at church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Mary’s two favorite charities, St. Jude and/or Covenant House.
