Obituary of Vivian Pearl Romas

Please share a memory of Vivian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Vivian Pearl (Lissebeck) Romas, age 90, of Syracuse, New York, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Thursday, February 9th, 2023.  Born in Oka, Quebec on March 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Christina Bonspille and Harry Lissebeck and was of Mohawk of Kanesatake and Danish descent.

Vivian moved to Syracuse, NY in the early 1950’s, where she held a long career as a “bar-maid”.  On October 7, 1984, she married Stephen Romas, and whether on Velasko Road or in Naples, FL, together they held many happy gatherings for family and friends.  In her younger years, Vivian loved to cook, entertain, golf, listen to old jazz music and spend time with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Romas, baby sister “Chickie”, sister June Elliott, and brother Douglas Lissebeck.  She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Phillips of Syracuse, three grandchildren, Chad Phillips of Red Creek, Danielle (Kevin) Doll of Red Creek and Jennifer (Charles) Rotach of Red Creek, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Normal Arnold of Syracuse, NY and Christine (Don) Kearney of Oka, Quebec, and several nieces and nephews.

Her family and friends will remember her for her laugh, wit, charm, sense of style, her very giving nature, love for animals, and the way she loved to entertain - always looking to keep family and friends close by.

She was laid to rest with a private service at Valley Cemetery in Syracuse, NY on Monday, February 13, 2023.  If family and friends would like to make a contribution in her memory she would have asked that it be made to your local animal shelter.  Edward J Ryan and Son Funeral Home has taken care of her arrangements.
