Nancy Ann Fitzpatrick Obituary

Nancy Fitzpatrick, 58, of Syracuse passed away peacefully at Iroquois Nursing Home on June 1, 2023 after a long illness.

Nancy was a teacher. She graduated from William Smith College in Geneva, NY and earned a master’s degree at Towson University in Maryland. Nancy taught English and math in Syracuse, Maryland and Louisiana and won many awards for her teaching. She was a member of the Peace Core and taught in Papua New Guinea for two years. Nancy loved the people of New Guinea and their simple way of life. They in turn loved her. She toured Australia and New Zealand on her way home.

Nancy retired early from teaching, and returned to Syracuse when independent living became difficult. She enjoyed reconnecting with relatives and friends, all of whom helped her live actively. Nancy loved people and any animal. She would go anywhere and watch any sport. The kindness and concern of relatives and good friends made Nancy’s life fun for her. Nancy had invitations for walks, ballgames, parties, track meets and dinners with friends. She loved it all.

She is predeceased by her father, John Terrance “Terry.”

Nancy is survived by her mother, Carole “Molly,”  and brothers, Tim (Sue Park) of Berkeley, CA and Peter (Anna Johansson) of Calistoga, CA.
