Neil Edward Walsh,85, of Washington Heights in New York City entered into God's Kingdom in the early morning hours of July 16th, 2023 while at Francis House in Syracuse, NY.

Neil was the youngest of three sons born on June 25th, 1938 to David and Catherine Walsh of Albany, NY.  While growing up at 40 Pinewood Ave, Neil attended St. Theresa's grade school followed by Christian Brothers Academy for High School.  Neil then chose to become a Christian Brother and attended the Novitiate at Barrytown.

Brother Alfred Bernadine(Neil) attended Catholic University in Washington, DC for his bachelor's degree.  He received his Masters Degree from NYU.

Upon graduation his first assignment was St. Mary Magdalene School in Buffalo, NY, followed by Incarnation School in NYC, Ascension School in NYC then back to Incarnation school where he was promoted to Principal.

In 1975 Neil left the Brotherhood and began a career in building management and maintenance.  After a long career Neil retired from Waterside Plaza Apartments.

Neil was a gentle soul who, even though living in the middle of a huge city, enjoyed being outdoors.  He loved all of God's creatures, especially cats and dogs.  His compassionate nature and warm personality made him easy to love and be around.  He enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and playing solitaire on his I-Pad.

His death will have a profound impact on those who were closest to him.

Neil is predeceased by his parents, his brother David and his brother Richard.

Neil is survived by his nephews David Walsh and Michael (Helen) Walsh of Syracuse: nieces Kathleen (James) Coughlin of Lexington, MA, Marianne Hanover of Syracuse, Tara (Paul) Jewell of Covington, GA, Jolyn Gallagher of Albany and Sister-In-Law Dale Walsh of Clifton Park, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 16, 2023 at 10am at the Parish of Mater Christi Church (formerly St Catherine of Siena), Albany.  Interment will follow the mass in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Neil's name to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208.
