Michael J. Mahar, 77, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  Michael was born in Syracuse, NY to Edward and Gladys Mahar and had lived in Syracuse his entire life.  He fully retired as the owner of Mahar Construction in 2017 after 44 years.  Michael was a graduate of Valley High School and an avid NY Yankees and NY Rangers fan.  He was also a member of Tuscarora GC for over 50 years.

Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia, and his sons, Patrick (Beth) of Syracuse and Sean of Charlotte NC, his sister, Judith (Louis) Worrell and brother, Thomas.  Michael had 2 grandchildren, Liam and Owen Mahar, 3 nieces, Rebecca, Jody and Tonya and 3 nephews, Brendan, Jason and Noel.

Services will be Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 1-4pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13219. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 6th at 10am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr, Syracuse, NY 13219.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter, 5015 Campuswood Dr suite 102, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
