Nancy Migdal Obituary

Nancy Gruman Migdal, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Christmas morning at the age of 81. Nancy was born with a bang on the 4th of July in 1942 to Elizabeth Bell and Charles Petrie Gruman. After graduating from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1960 she worked at Syracuse University as a secretary.  Nancy was married to Robert F. Migdal for 60 years and had five children: Karin (Michael) Johnson, Missy Migdal, Jennifer (Jimmy Wilkins) Migdal, Robert (JoAngela) Migdal and Laura (Robert) Sweibel. Zoie Grace was her beloved grandchild. She has two surviving brothers: Charles (Cynthia) Gruman and William (Camille) Gruman. She was predeceased by her brother Paul Albert Gruman in 2007. 


The Migdal family were members of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish for 70 years where Nancy was on the Altar &Rosary Society for many years.  In the summer, Nancy would enjoy the family cottage on Lake Ontario in Pine Grove.  She was artistic, creating many beautiful ceramics and sewing textile creations. Nancy had a green thumb and an affinity for violets. Nancy loved children and had an in-home daycare for many years. She also worked at Saint Charles School as a preschool teacher for 20 years.   


A Catholic Funeral will be held at Our Lady of Hope on Saturday, December 30th at 10 AM and the wake will be at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home on Friday, December 29th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Empower Parkinson, Inc. or to Hospice of CNY who helped Nancy and the family tremendously in the last 4 months of her life.
