Sean Patrick McAvan, 45, passed away suddenly in his home on March 8, 2024.
Sean was born on May 20, 1978, in Syracuse, NY to Jerry and Claudia McAvan. He was a well-known bar owner of McAvan’s Pub on Tipperary Hill in Syracuse. A proud graduate of West Genesee High School, Sean furthered his education at Onondaga Community College. His career was marked by dedication and excellence; he worked for the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities as a Sergeant in the Safety and Security Office. Sean was the life of every party. He knew songs from every genre and the words to every song! Being around Sean meant that you were guaranteed to have a great time! Sean was a dedicated father who coached Pop Warner football, Peewee and Modified wrestling and never missed an opportunity to be on the sideline cheering on his boys. He was a loving husband; married to his beloved wife Heather for 19 years. Sean wore his heart on his sleeve and would take the shirt off his back for anyone. He touched the lives of so many people and will be terribly missed by all.
Predeceased by his parents, Sean’s legacy is carried on by his loving wife Heather (Fenner) McAvan; his children Chandler McAvan, Colin McAvan, Hayley Champlin (Matthew), Shawn Hand Jr. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren Liliana, Mia, Fitzgerald, Finley, and Killian.
