Obituary of James J. McMahon
James J. “Jamo” McMahon, 91, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully at his home on Monday. Jamo was born on Aug. 20, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of Strathmore and communicate of Most Holy Rosary Church. He served in the US Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Jamo was grateful for all the care throughout the years in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit of the VA Hospital. He spent his career as a plumbing contractor. Jamo was the owner of Healy Plumbing and Heating for many years before retiring in 1999. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and SU sports fan, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Jamo was predeceased by the “love of his life,” his wife, Marcia, of 49 years and two grandchildren, Jack and Tara.
He is survived by his children, Jim (Joan), Kitty (John), Susie, Marty (Karin), Matt, Karen (Don), and Ann (Alan), grandchildren, Henry, Grace (Connor), Jamie (Cori), Joe, Elijah and Ruby, his best pals and great grandsons, Trevor and Myles, his brother, Mike and the very large McMahon/Ryan Clan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 9am at Most Holy Rosary Church. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4 to 7pm at the church. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
