Obituary of JoAnne (Perkins) DeMetro
JoAnne "JoJo" DeMetro,71, of Pompey passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was born in Syracuse, NY, attended OCS HS and graduated from SUNY Cobelskill with a degree in Computer Science. She used her degree working for and retiring from Upstate Engineers Benefit Funds as a computer programmer for 41 years. JoAnne was the life of the party and will be remembered for her witty sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. She was kind to everyone, always stayed positive and anyone who crossed her path ended up loving her. JoAnne was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter. JoAnne and her late husband John enjoyed attending concerts and vacationing together, especially to their retirement home in Florida. She played bunko with friends and was a member of the Pompey Ladies Auxiliary. She loved singing songs and taking cruises and roadtrips with her sisters "thounses," going to the Casino, and spending time with her 4 grandchildren. She will be terribly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret Perkins, her husband John DeMetro Sr, her brother, William, and sisters, Lynne Tuthill and Sally Perkins. She is survived by her two children, John (Christina) DeMetro Jr., daughter, Angela (John) Romancik, her sisters, Margaret (Dave) Farley, Nancy (Larry) Taylor, Patty (Duane) Reitz, brother, Chuck (MaryAnn) Perkins, four grandchildren, Johnny III, Salvatore, Christian, Giovanna and several nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2023 from 3-5pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Belleuve Ave. Burial will take place at a later date.
