Obituary of Mary Jean Maguire Winsor
Mary Jean Maguire Winsor, 94, of Syracuse, passed away on March 19, 2024, at her home with her family by her side. Mary was born in Everett, Massachusetts on June 19, 1929, to Anna and Charles Ciovacco.
She graduated from Everett High School and the Malden Hospital School of Nursing. Mary worked as a Registered Nurse for 42 years, caring for soldiers, newborns, and the elderly.
Mary was predeceased by William H. Maguire, her husband of 28 years, Frank R. Winsor, her husband for 12 years, her brother Charlie Ciovacco, and her Aunt Rose Tricca, who was like a sister.
She is survived by her “perfect” son, Joseph Maguire, his angelic wife Suzanne, her only grandchild, the self-sufficient and capable Kendall Maguire and her big crazy fun extended family of Syracuse.
She lived most of her life in the Boston area, moving to Syracuse in 2017 to live with her family and her wicked smaht dog, Wally. Mary had an awesome Boston accent, enjoyed baking and doing crafts, was an avid reader and always loved watching Wheel of Fortune and the Red Sox. Her favorite vacation spots were Florida and New Hampshire. She had an incredibly outgoing personality and could make friends anywhere she went. She even met one husband at the cemetery visiting the other. She loved babies and always wanted to know everyone’s name and how everyone was related to each other. Mary had a great laugh and a never-ending sense of humor. She loved her family above all and had a huge heart, always putting the needs of others first. Once a nurse, always a nurse. Love you sweethaahht!
