My friendship with Jerry began when he played Bellevue Country Club for the first time as his caddie and he shot the old course record. Later when I became a regular member Jerry and I competed in the club bowling league. He was a great guy who will be missed. My since condolences go out to his family .

Signing in as a friend seems far less than our relationship really was. Jerry's 1st assistant professional, winter tour caddy, our friendship extended for 60 years. For the four summers I spent in Syracuse, I was an honorary member of the family. I held baby Shannon in my arms and gave David his first record album. We send our love and share the grief of losing a lifetime friend and mentor. Jerry, I hope you are up there playing a round with my dad.

Dear Gayle, David, Diane and Shannon, I'm so sorry to to hear of Jerry's death. He was the best! You captured him so well in his obituary. I was so lucky to be part of this first six years at Bellevue. He was the best first boss anyone could have. So kind and supportive. Gayle, we had a lot of fun in the golf shop and with the "aquatic staff." You made me feel part of the family. With love and sympathy, Ed Charlebois

I’ve known Jerry and enjoyed his friendship since 1970. Jerry was a very good man and as good a friend as you could ask for. Jerry was very honest and his word was everything. I don’t think we ever had a cross word between us. Watching Jerry play golf was special. He never forced anything. His swing was effortless with a perfect tempo. I played so much golf with him. He, Al Foster, Greg Thornton and I played for many years in the Pro-Team Tournament. It consisted of a Club Pro and 3 of his amateur members. With Jerry leading us we had an advantage over every other team. Having Al on the team helped a lot as well. I don’t recall how many times we won that event - at least 3 times anyway. Like so many people I could go on and on with golf stories that include Jerry but I won’t. It truly was an honor to be Jerry’s friend. I will always remember him very fondly. To Gayle, David, Dianne and Shannon you will be in my prayers and to Jerry RIP my friend. Tom Flynn

Dear Gayle, David, Diane, Shannon and Family, The news of Jerry’s passing is so sad but I have wonderful memories of him from Bellevue, especially during the years I was a lifeguard at the pool and Jerry was the Pro. He was kind, soft spoken and so very well respected for those qualities as well as being an unparalleled Pro. He was truly in a class by himself. Rest in Peace, Jerry. I know you’re hitting them long and straight in Heaven.

Mr. and Mrs. Steelsmith are my childhood best friend’s parents. They lived across the street from my family throughout my younger years. They all treated me like a member of the family and I have more happy memories with them than I can count. I am so very sorry Mrs Steelsmith, Shannon, Diane and David. Mr Steelsmith(no matter how many times they said to call them Jerry and Gayle) was a wonderful man. You are all in my prayers.

Gayle and Family~ Sometimes you meet a patient and they just stick with you and can’t help but be grateful for the impact they had on you. Jon did that for me.
