Obituary of James G. Brown

James G. Brown was born on August 2, 1946 and died on May 20, 2024. He was pre-deceased by his parents, John, and Dorothy Brown.

He is survived by his siblings: Joyce Brown, Gerald (Terry) Brown, and John (Kitty) Brown. He has three nephews and one niece as well as numerous cousins. 

Jim was a graduate of Wm. Nottingham High School, S.U.N.Y. @ Morrisville, and the University of Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science. Upon graduation from the University of Georgia, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a Viet Nam Era veteran who received his Honorable Discharge in 1973. Jim achieved the rank of Specialist 5 / Sergeant and served in Okinawa and at Walter Reed Hospital. He was awarded the designation of Sharpshooter. 

His last employment was with the U.S. Dept. Agriculture as a Food Inspector. He retired in 2011. 

Calling hours will be held at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, Syracuse, N.Y. 13219, on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 2:00-3:00 PM. A service will follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be private. 

The family would like to thank the V.A. Hospital for their dedicated care and our cousin, Phil Brown, for his care and oversight.
