Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Mahar

Mary Elizabeth Mahar, 89 of Syracuse, NY passed away on June 26, 2024.  She was a member of St. Cecelia’s Church and prior long-term member of St. Brigid's St. Joseph's Church. The singular focus of her life, was always raising her 6 children.  Mary enjoyed time with family and watching the Yankees and SU Basketball. 

Mary was predeceased her son, Edward, parents, Burton and Elizabeth (Vault) Duell and siblings, Charles Duell, Marge Cole, and Virginia Kocienski.

She is survived by her children, Linda Mulherin (Bob May), Dennis (Donna) Mahar, Michelle Mahar, Colleen Mahar, and Kevin (Chris) Mahar, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the people at PACE CNY who provided guidance and care over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11am at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
