Nicholas C. Masterpole Obituary

Nicholas C. Masterpole, Sr., 98, of Syracuse passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 29, 2024.


Born in Syracuse on June 17, 1926 to the late Carl & Josephine Masterpole. He was a graduate of Central Tech and went on to serve in the NAVY during WWII. After being honorably discharged he attended Syracuse University under the G.I. Bill. He started the N.C. Masterpole Insurance Agency in 1953 before going on to partner with John Murphy and forming Masterpole-Murphy Insurance Agency in 1957. Nick spent 73 years as an active member of Tuscarora Golf Club where he formed many wonderful friendships and created countless memories. He was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents Association, The Ole’ Rascals and was an OCCRA Board Member. He was a Communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, where he served as Parish Council President and received the Heritage award in 2002.


He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marianna (Gilmartin) Masterpole, children, Carl (Sue), Mary Jo (Mickey) Hayes, Anne Marie (Ed) Donohue, Nick (Kim), Marty (Heather) and Peter, grandchildren, Nichole, Bobby, CJ, Marah, Kevin, Shane, Ellie, Michael, Molly and Anna as well as his sister, Pauline Gross.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11am at St. Patrick’s Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 4-7pm at the church. Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Patrick’s- St. Brigid’s Parish Heritage Fund, 216 N. Lowell Ave Syracuse, NY 13204.
