Obituary of Helen L. Parker

Helen L. Parker, 91, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2017. The daughter of the late Lizzie Maria Walrath and Fred Parker, Helen attended a one room school through grade 6 in Brownville, New York. She graduated from Brownville Central School in 1944, Crouse Irving School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1948, earned her BS in education from SU in 1957 as well as her MS in Nursing education in 1975. She was a public health nurse for 6 years before joining Crouse Hospital School of Nursing where she was an instructor for 35 years. Outside of work, Helen’s passions included making various forms of crafts, her love of animals and she also enjoyed traveling. Helen is survived by her cousin, John Parker, and his children, Charles, John, Beth and Amy who all reside in the Washington D.C. area. She is also survived by many close friends, especially the Lawton and Nicholson’s families. A memorial mass will be held on July 17 at 10am at Most Holy Rosary, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be private.
