Obituary of Dorothy Stapleton

Dorothy (Zadroga) Stapleton, 98, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024 with her loving family by her side.  Born on August 16, 1926, she was known for her deep love for her family, and a life filled with meaningful contributions  to those around her. Her talents were many; she was known as the “best pie and cookie maker,” she could sew and create cherished items for family, friends and neighbors.  She truly was the matriarch of the family, and embodied great faith, strength, and a devotion for taking care of everyone. 

 

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Edward, and sister, Irene Scouten and brother, Leon Zadroga.

 

She is survived by her children:  Nancy (Ronald) Brown of Leesburg, Florida; James (Patti) Stapleton of Clemmons, NC.  She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren; Jennifer, Meghan, Katie, and Dan and eight great grandchildren, and sister, Marilyn Matyasik. 

 

Her love and strength were with her until the very end, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. 

 

Services will be held at Holy Family Church on September 16th beginning at 10AM. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holy Family Church Shrine Fund, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse 13219 or Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St, Liverpool 13088.
