Neil J. Devine Obituary

Neil J. Devine, 84, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by family September 30, 2024.


Neil was born December 31, 1939 in Binghamton, NY to the late Bernard and Catherine Devine. He served in the US Army and upon being honorably discharged he went on to graduate from Syracuse University. Neil had a long career as a Professional Engineer in the greater Syracuse area. He enjoyed playing baseball and was even scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers but ultimately chose to attend Syracuse University. Neil also coached baseball and softball for his children’s teams. He was an avid Yankees and Giants fan.


Neil is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Barbara Ruggles and his brother, John.


He is survived by his wife of 59 years Rose Marie, children, Thomas (Laurie), Diane Devine, Donna (HB) Besaw, Colleen (Charlie) Goodsell, brother, Bernard (Joan), 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday October 4, 2024 at 11:30am at Holy Family Church. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:30-11:30 at church prior to the mass. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Family Food Pantry, Syracuse or the Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter.
