Obituary of Judith A. Galloway
Judith “Judy” Ann Brown Galloway, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, with her family by her side.
Judy worked as a bookkeeper supporting her husband in their self-owned business for thirty years. Her family meant the world to her. She so enjoyed the gatherings at her home, especially the holidays with family and friends.
Her passion was evident in her service to the Syracuse Fire Department as the Lead Advisor of Fire Explorer Post 280. Her dedication to assisting young adults learn about Fire Service was commendable. Regardless of the time of day or night, through any weather conditions, she responded to every fire scene with a canteen service for the hardworking firefighters for over 25 years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles J. Galloway; parents Shirley Dilg and Robert Brown; and brothers Thomas, Timothy, and Theodore. She is survived by her six children: Debra Galloway, Patricia Simone, Joseph (Anne), James (Stacy), Daniel (Brett), and Mary Ripley (Scott); 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Terrance “Joe” Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Judy was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the staff from Hospice of CNY for their compassion and care as they worked to make her comfortable in her final weeks.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 3 - 6 pm at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
