Obituary of Susan M. Kerwin
Susan M. Kerwin, 54, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5th. Susie was born on November 18, 1969, to the late Matthew E. and Barbara (Davis) Kerwin. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and humor that will not be forgotten by her family and friends. She attended Oswego County BOCES and Corcoran High School. Following high school, Susie began a nearly 30-year career as a dining room attendant at McDonald’s where she impressed everyone with her work ethic and befriended customers with her smile and friendly disposition. After retiring, she became a resident of Arc of Onondaga and developed many new friendships with her fellow residents and staff.
Susie was an excellent swimmer and competed with pride in the Special Olympics for several years. She thoroughly enjoyed her weekly program outings with staff, Friday night dances at O.C.C., and socializing with friends and strangers alike. Susie lived a happy, full life by focusing on the things that mattered most – the love of her adoring family and friends, being an aunt, endless laughter, a good game (or twenty) of UNO, Friday night dinners at Kelley’s Restaurant, frequent naps, and hot fudge sundaes.
Susie is survived by her sister Lisa, brother Matthew, nephew Noah, nieces Erin and Allison, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Susie was predeceased by her stepmother Linda (Bjorn) Kerwin and sister-in-law Delisa (McCarthy) Kerwin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 12:00 p.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY. Calling hours will be held before Mass at the church from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will be private.
