Mary A. (Shiel) Torak Obituary
Mary Torak, 67, passed away at Upstate University Hospital on Friday, November 8, 2024 after a long illness. Known as “Mae” by her family and friends, she grew up on the South Side of Syracuse and lived in Westvale (Town of Geddes) for 32 years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s Church.
Mae was a retired Program Supervisor for the Syracuse City School District. She enjoyed children immensely and was passionate about providing them with excellent educational programming.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, adult sons, Andrew of Geddes and Matthew of Brooklyn, NY, a brother, Martin (Patricia) Shiel and sister, Theresa (John) Snyder, both of Geddes, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Agnes (Corbett) Shiel.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 pm November 14th at St Patrick’s & St Brigid’s Church. A funeral mass will be at 10 am November 15th at church.
