Obituary of William R. Ryan

William (Ronnie) Ryan, 79, died Saturday, May 9, after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved companion of 25 years, Phyllis A. Behan; brother, Robert Ryan; sister-in-law, Susan; nephew, Robert; two great-nieces, Kaitlynn and Kaleigh, as well as many loving extended family members and friends.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served for three years. After the Navy, he worked as a pipe coverer and was a member of the Syracuse Insulators Local 30, until his retirement. An avid sports fan, Ronnie especially loved NASCAR, super-modified racing, professional baseball and Syracuse football and basketball. He and Phyllis greatly enjoyed traveling together, most recently to Ireland and Alaska, and they were frequent cruisers.
Ron grew up in Syracuse, but moved to Port Orange, FL 25 years ago, though he still enjoyed many summers at Sandy Pond, NY. He will be greatly missed by all.
Calling hours will be held Friday May 29th from 9-10 am at St. Patrick's Church with a funeral mass immediately following at 10am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Halifax Health Hospice 3800 Woodbriar Terrace Port Orange, FL 32129
