Jeanne O'Connor Bowman, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 17th, 2015 surrounded by family and her closest friends. She was born on March 29th, 1928. Jeanne was the daughter of Dr. Sarsfield J. and Helen Kerwin O'Connor of Syracuse, NY. She was graduate of Syracuse Central High School (1946) where she was the president of Lyceum Sorority and a cheerleader. Jeanne graduated from Seton Hill College, Greensburg, PA (1950) with a BA in Sociology, and continued as an Alumni Board Member for many years. In 1952, "Mrs. Lucky" married Ronald Hoyt Bowman and began an "UN...believable" marriage of 40 years. She founded the Bradford Hill's Garden Club and was founder and president of the Exclusive "Ten Flies" for thirty years. She was on the board of directors for St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center Auxiliary, and on the board of directors of the first Convent School. She was a past member of Bellevue Country Club and Wolf Hollow Racquet Club. She worked for Onondaga County, Child Support Social Services. She was avid skier, played tennis and enjoyed painting. She loved, vacationed and recently lived in Skaneateles, NY. Jeanne was always known for her great sense of style and fashion.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother, Dr. Sarsfield J. O'Connor Jr.
Jeanne is survived by her children; Kimberlee Bowman, Judith Bowman, Joseph Peter Bowman, Stephen Sarsfield (Maria) Bowman, and Ronald Hoyt (Chrissy) Bowman Jr.; eight grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Hopkins and Helen O'Connor, many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 9:00am at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt, NY. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4pm on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
