Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Palermo
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth "Betty" Palermo passed away on August 10th surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Betty was born on March 24th, 1936, to Anthony and Anna Ranieri. She and her husband, Art were married for 59 years and experienced a wonderful life together.
Betty was a person who radiated beauty inside and out. She was gentle, kind and caring. She always put the needs of others ahead of herself. She was a loving, loyal wife, mother and grandmother. Many wonderful times were spent with family and friends. Trips to Italy, weekends on the Thousand Islands and winters in Florida are some of the memories family and friends will cherish. Christmas Eve and Christmas day were legendary at Betty and Art's house. She was happiest in the midst of her family and friends, but especially her grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Casey and Marlee. Whether it was a sporting event, performance or concert, if the grandkids were in it, Betty was there.
Along with her family, Betty's most cherished possessions were her rosary and her Divine Mercy Prayer Book. She never complained and was committed to her faith. Betty was always a lady and like a lady she knew when it was time to say goodbye.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, and sister, Mary Ann, as well as other family members and dear friends.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Arthur, adoring children, Lisa (David) Matto and Artie (Anne) both of Fayetteville and her four grandchildren, as well as her brothers Dominick (Pam), Joseph (Patti) and Tony Ranieri (Susan), nieces and nephews and loving sister-in-laws.
Services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church at 10am on Friday, August 14, 2015. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7pm on Thursday, August 13 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Entombment in St. Mary's Cemetery will be private.
