Obituary of Peter A. Naton

Peter A. Naton, 82, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Dec. 10th in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was born in Flushing, NY to Detective Peter A. and Catherine (Reilly) Naton. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan (Regan), daughters, Jeanne (Curt) Lingenfelter of Syracuse, Carolanne (Mickey) Collins of Syracuse, sons, Peter V. (Christine Ross) Naton of Duxbury, MA, and Michael (Marcia Dietz) Naton of Syracuse, 12 grandchildren, Kristyn, Jamie, and Dr. Meghan Lingenfelter, Taylor, Abby, and Haley Collins, Kyle (Caitlin), Kimberly and Reilly Naton, Leighann, Katie, and Matthew Naton, brother, Raymond Naton of Wilmington, DE, sister, Catherine Klocko of Wilmington, DE, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Ann (Yerick) and his very special Aunt Marge (Reilly). Peter graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY and is a member of the Bishop Loughlin Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from The College of the Holy Cross and is a member of Holy Cross Athletic Hall of Fame and starred on the 1952 NCAA College Baseball World Series championship team. He played baseball professionally for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization for five years after college, and recently retired after 50 years in the automotive business. Peter was an avid golfer, loved all sports and was a past president and 53 year member of Tuscarora Golf Club as well as past president of the Syracuse District Gold Association. As per Peter's wishes, the family is planning a memorial service for January 11 followed by a gathering at Tuscarora Golf Club to celebrate Peter's life.
