Helen Sarah Hartnett, 62, of Camillus, NY, passed away in Syracuse, NY on April 12, 2016. Helen was born on June 6, 1953 in Olean, NY; she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from D'Youville College in 1975 and was presented with the President's Award for excellence at graduation. Helen had a 32-year career at Niagara Mohawk where she made many close friends. Helen enjoyed playing basketball, softball, golf and other sports. She excelled at completing the NY Times crossword, loved following SU basketball and football, and spending time with her family, nieces and nephews, and friends. Helen is survived by her 11 siblings, Margaret and Jerry Foody of Aikin, SC, Kate and Ken Ackerman of Spring Hill, FL, Edward and Molly Hartnett of Manlius, NY, Elizabeth Hartnett Honnold of Fayetteville, NY, Michael and Sheila Hartnett of Jupiter, FL, Maureen Kennedy of Syracuse, NY, Patricia and Dave Pelligrini of Syracuse, NY, Paul and Marybeth Hartnett of Pittsburg, PA, John and Karen Hartnett of Syracuse NY, Jim and Mary Pat Hartnett of Manlius, NY, Tim and Jennifer Hartnett of Kingwood, TX, as well as her 62 nieces and nephews and 51 grandnieces and grandnephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Hartnett, and her brother-in-law, Fred Honnold. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 16th at Most Holy Rosary Church 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY. Donations may be made to Most Holy Rosary Church.
