I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Jim. Jimmy, we talked
most morning during our days at West Hill. I always liked your casual, solid,
quiet demeanor. It’s been 31 years since
I’ve seen you, yet, today I sincerely miss you.

It was very sad to here the news of Jim's death. I worked along side him at Station 3 when he was a rookie. He was excited about the job, had a great attitude and always wanted to learn. He could take a joke and the kidding that came with being a rookie. He was always trying to learn and help out anyway he could. Personally, he helped me tremendously when he procured a trampoline for our racquetball court when we gave a GREAT sendoff for our retiring Lieutenant, without Jim's help it would have fell apart. He also helped me and others during our days off when someone needed help working on their house or when sick firefighters needed transportation or other help. I am glad to call him my friend and sad that I did not keep in closer touch after being transferred and retiring. I know for me I will not forget him.

Dear Jim's family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what you are going through but know that my deepest sympathies and lots of prayers are sent your way. I met "Fireman Jim" exactly 10 years ago when I moved to Camillus. I just wanted you to know how welcoming he was and one of the kindest men I've been lucky enough to meet. I was always greeted with his contagious smile followed up with many a great conversation over the years. Know that he was loved by all and will be missed dearly! Our hearts go out to you! ⤠Tara (Mathew/Kooch) Kucharski

I had the pleasure of working side by side with Jim, prior to my retirement from the Syracuse Fire Department. He was a great firefighter, extremely dedicated, and was one who always paid attention to detail. He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Roach, Mary Beth and Sue, I am so incredibly sorry and saddened to hear about Jimmy's passing. He was incredibly kind and giving and he was a gentle soul. He wouldn't hesitate for even a moment to help someone that needed it. And my goodness, he certainly loved the outdoors. I still remember him teaching me all about the importance of maple trees and maple in general ! I hope that you can find peace and comfort knowing that he is with his brother Paulie who he has missed terribly and your beautiful and loving mother who I still miss.

Dear sweet Jimmy.
I'm so saddened to hear you are not here with us anymore.
I was just thinking of you the other day.
You were so happy, funny, quite at the same time. Why did you have to go.
Fly free with your wife and baby.
To your family and friends, what a great loss of a great man and friend.
My heart is very heavy.
God bless you all and may God rest his hand on our shoulders to guide us to know Jimmy is with our king.
All my love and warmest hugs,
Ally Kuhles
