Obituary of Keith Anne Bornhurst

Keith Anne Bornhurst, 85, of Syracuse passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Jan. 24, after a long illness, surrounded by her family. Born in Little Falls, N.Y., she graduated from Little Falls High School in 1949. She received her RN from Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing in Gloversville, NY. After moving to Syracuse, she worked at Memorial Hospital, where she met her future husband. Keith Anne was pre-deceased by her parents, Helen and Charles Clarke, and her sister, Beverly Santry James. Keith Anne is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dr. Robert A Bornhurst; five devoted daughters, Gretchen Judge of Middletown, N.Y.; Donna Pierce (Fred) of Syracuse, N.Y.; Beth Preminger (Jim) of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; Annie Bornhurst (Keith) of Encinitas, Calif.; and Kathy Bornhurst (Ted) of Thousand Oaks, Calif; seven granddaughters; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Keith Anne volunteered for many years with the Syracuse Health Department, Vincent House and for Most Holy Rosary Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister as well as a volunteer assistant at the Rectory. She loved to bowl and was one of the founding members of the Rosarian Bowling League. She was an avid bridge player and traveler, particularly with Fr. Fred Manara and his group trips. Keith Anne, her husband and children have enjoyed their summer cottage in Thousand Island Park on Wellesley Island since 1979. She loved to volunteer at the TIP Library from early spring to the closing in the fall. The family would like to thank all the nurses and aides on 4 South at Crouse Hospital, with special recognition to Anne Marie Dadey and Wilma White for their loving care over the last few months of Keith's life. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Edward J. Ryan & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. in Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Keith Anne's memory may be made to Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207 or to Thousand Island Park Library, 42743 St. Lawerence Ave., Thousand Island Park, NY 13692.
