Alexandra S. Farwagi, age 90, passed away quietly Saturday, April 23, 2016. Born in Jaffa and raised in Jerusalem, Palestine. Alexandra cherished the memories of her growing years in Jerusalem. Alexandra was predeceased by her son, Elias Farwagi in 1961, her beloved husband of 50 years, Salim Anton Farwagi in 2001, and her grandson, David Gordon Webster in 2004. Alexandra and Salim lived in Damascus, Syria for 16 years, where all their children were born. Salim was employed as the CFO for an import export company. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1966 and settling in Syracuse, NY, to be near extended family, Alexandra worked for Catholic Charities and managed the family owned retail business until she retired at age 62. Her hospitality to family and friends, her love of flowers, gardening, and graciously hosted gatherings was well known in the Arab American Community. Her greatest joy was preparing and serving all the exquisite dishes from her culture. Her children, Tony (Marilyn) Farwagi, Gloria (Gordon) Webster, Annie (Kamil) Dallalah, her grandchildren, Daniel (Tera), and Diana Webster, Peter and Michelle Dallalah, Audrey, Erica, Anna, Samy, Maria, Charles, and Sean Farwagi along with her great grandchildren, Adelyn and Silvie Webster are grieving her passing. She leaves a great legacy and void in everyone's life that no one can fill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11am at Most Holy Rosary Church. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt Donations may be sent to Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207.
