Richard W. Hunter, 95, of Liverpool passed away peacefully Tuesday at Loretto with family members in attendance.
Richard, the son of William and Doris Hunter, was the last of the seven Skunk City Rowland St. Hunter boys: Bill, George, Tom, John, Charlie, Harry and Richard.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran (1944-1945). He was retired from the Syracuse City School District where he was a heating system specialist. He enjoyed life while traveling, camping, summers at Silver Lake, NY and occasional winters in Florida. His activities included golf, biking and he was an avid history buff.
Richard was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Florence Costello Hunter. He is survived by his three sons; Richard M. of Auburn, Raymond of Baldwinsville, and John (Marilyn) of Camillus, four grandchildren; Michael (Telisa), Brian (Candi), Randall and Lauren O'Neil; six great-grandchildren; Amelia and Dieter Hunter, Colleen, Catherine (Catie), Julianne, and James O'Neil and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, 10 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum in Dewitt. Calling hours will be Friday, 4-7 PM at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave.
