Obituary of Allen G. Felty

Allen G. Felty, 85, of Syracuse, NY died peacefully at home after a long illness on Monday, December 19, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Schuykill Haven, PA to the late Adam and Florence (Newcomber) Felty. Graduating from Pine Grove High, he was a member of the undefeated 1948/49 basketball team.
Al served his country while on active duty with the US Navy. He was stationed in Brunswick, Maine during the Korean War where he engineered PV2's.
He worked for Air France, ran his own travel agency, and later in life with his nephew, they worked together at Commercial Carpet Contractors.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was the focal point of his life as well as his church. He was a proud communicant of Taunton Memorial Presbyterian where he was an active member of the choir and had numerous duties too long to list.
He is survived by his wife, Fay (Cox), his children; Cynthia Kramer of Mocksville, NC; Robert (Lynne) of Syracuse; Michele Posloski of Utica; Jennifer (Dennis) Pagan of Syracuse; Adam (Eileen) of Syracuse; and Abbe (Cliff) Aaron of Charlotte, NC; and his loving grandchildren: Jason, Sierra, Nathan, Ariel, Shelby, Danielle, Nicholas, Dylan, Jackson, Fay and Georgia-Allen; and his great grand-children: Annabelle, Charlotte and Vivienne. Al is survived by his brother Arthur (Faye) of Pine Grove, PA; and his sister, Alice of Norwalk, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allen was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Adam, and his sisters, Ada, Alda, Alma, Alberta and Laura.
Friends are invited to join the Family for calling hours on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, Syracuse, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
