Lillian M. Davitt, 77, of Camillus passed away on July 3, 2014. Lillian was a native of Syracuse and lived on Onondaga Hill and Camillus most of her life. She was a graduate of Syracuse University and was an elementary school teacher for Westhill School District and St. Patrick's Catholic School. She was a wonderful and loving mother who stayed home while raising her children. She then returned to work at Onondaga County Department of Social Services where she retired in 2002.


Lillian's life centered around her children and grandchildren. She was an avid piano player, gardener and bridge player. She enjoyed being in Camillus Garden Club and various bridge clubs.


Lillian was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Jerome McCarthy in 1974, her father, Clayton Fellows in 1975, her mother, Ethel O. Fellows in 1985, her second husband, Thomas Davitt Jr. in 1990 and her grandson, Bret Pritchard in 2002.


Lillian is survived by her brother, George Fellows (Sally) of Rochester, her sister, Heather Bauer of Clayton, her son, Joel McCarthy (Mindy) of Camillus, her daughter, Lisa Mathews (Curt) of Camillus, her daughter, MaryBeth Fuhrman (Andy) of Richmond, VA, her daughter, Laurel McCarthy of Watertown, her daughter, Kerry Brink (Matt) of Charlotte, NC, eight grandchildren, Jessica, Shane, Christopher, Megan, Cole, Clay, Kailey and Addison and several nieces and nephews.


Services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10AM at St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday at 4 to 7pm at the the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave.
