Obituary of Edward M. Knight

Edward M. Knight Jr., 64, lifetime resident of Syracuse, NY passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was at his mother's home on Otisco Lake celebrating his favorite day of the year with his loving family and friends by his side. Ed was a union carpenter for over 20 years, a city of Syracuse code enforcement officer, and retired as a senior lead coordinator for the city of Syracuse. He was also well known and liked as a bartender at Rosie O'Grady's for many years. Ed was predeceased by his father, Edward M. Knight Sr. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen (McGurk) Knight; children, Sean (Becky), Shannon and Edward III; his mother, Kate; sister, Kathleen Gallagher; 4 grandchildren, Alexis, Griffin, Lauren and Liam; and many nieces and nephews. Ed loved traveling to North Myrtle Beach and enjoying Otisco Lake with his family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, Tipperary Hill. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be private.
