Obituary of Francis E. Moran

Francis "Fritz" Moran was the son of Mary and Earl Moran, born on June 5, 1937. Fritz passed away surrounded by his loving family at his bedside on June 12, 2015. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1955 where he excelled in baseball and basketball. Fritz was an All-Parochial basketball player and named to Syracuse's All-Time All-Parochial League Team. Fritz was employed by Niagara Mohawk/ National Grid for many years. In retirement Fritz loved all things that ended with the word "ball." He lived and loved all sports. Fritz enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up and cheered them on in their sporting events, in spite of his work-related impaired vision. Fritz is predeceased by his brother, William. He is survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Linda Newman; his children, Michael (Karen), Catherine (Dan) Hanover, Bill (Jacquelyn), Tim (Tina), Tom and Kelly (R.J. Cunningham) Moran; grandchildren, Sean and Patrick Moran, Sarah (Andy) Breiner, Ryan Hanover, Brittany, Justin, Landon, Nolan, Tim, Michael and Melissa Moran, Jimmy Liberatore and Tristin Moran; great grandchildren, Jack and Payton Breiner; sister, Joyce Kudlick; brother, John Moran and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Patrick's Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Fritz's lifelong friend, Peter Coleman, Dr. Graziano and Dr. Fazio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th N. St., Liverpool, NY 13088 or Upstate Cancer Center, 750 E. Adams St., Syracuse, NY 13210.
