Richard F. Yule, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully in his home, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on October 5, 1924, in Syracuse, NY. He was the son of Frederick E. and Helen Erbel Yule.
He graduated from Syracuse Central High School where he was a three sport varsity athlete excelling in football; after high school he served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945 with an honorable discharge after World War II. After the War, he returned to Syracuse and attended Syracuse University graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor's of Science in business administration. He spent his career working as a sales representative for several companies, including Borg Warner Chemical, where he retired from. He won several awards for his work and was passionate about his career.
Richard was an avid golfer and a member of the Bellevue Country Club for 50 years. He belonged to the League of the Iroquois and was inducted into their Quarter Century Club. Richard was a proud member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted Catholic. His pride in his country led to a passion for collecting 1776 Bicentennial pieces; he and his wife Helen were avid art and antique collectors as well. Richard's passion for fine wines, cigars, and cheeses was incomparable. He was an avid investor in the stock market and always kept up on the latest politics. Richard had a strong appreciation for music and had an extensive record collection. He was a season ticket holder for the Syracuse University football team for nearly 40 years and a lifelong fan of the Syracuse athletics program.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen, in December of 2015. They were married for 71 years. He is survived by his two children, three grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's parish, 4471 Onondaga Blvd, on Wednesday, March 16, at 10am. Calling hours will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard may be made to Hospice of Central New York, 990 7th N. Street, Liverpool, NY, 13088.
