John P. Kirsch passed away peacefully on October 6, 2015 at the Francis House with his family by his side. He was born in Mattydale, NY on September 3, 1937. John graduated from St. John the Baptist Catholic Academy ('55) and LeMoyne College ('59). While he was in the Air Force following college, he did graduate work in economics at the University of Illinois. He was associated with Morgan Stanley and its predecessors for over 37 years as a stockbroker. He was formerly a member of Syracuse Kiwanis, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, The Board of Regents of LeMoyne College, The Parish Council of St. Ann's Parish, The Finance Committee of the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Finance Committee of the Sisters of St. Francis. Upon retirement in 1998 he was, with his bulldozer, a volunteer at Unity Acres, Alverna Heights, Baltimore Woods, Matthew 25 Farm and Adams Eden. He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard "Sam" and Marion Kirsch and daughter in law, Linda Kirsch. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dr. Marcia Cleary Kirsch; seven children, Matthew Kirsch of Houston, TX, Mary (James) Lampe of Germantown, IL, Joseph (Meara) Kirsch of Durham, NC, Sharon (Danny) O'Sullivan of Summit, NJ, Mark (Gretchen) Kirsch of Chesterfield, MO, Julie (Steven) Napierski of Syracuse, NY, and Michael Kirsch of Syracuse, NY; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Sr. Sara Kirsch CSJ of Watervliet, NY, Mary K. Stine of Bradenton, FL, and Martha (Don) Roberts of Burlington, MA and his brother, Dan (Diane) Kirsch of Syracuse, NY. Services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 9 AM at St. Ann's Church; 4471 Onondaga Blvd. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
