Genevieve ("Gen") Stimler
Genevieve (Faciszewski) (Maslak) Stimler, died peacefully on Tuesday, her 93rd birthday, at The Centers at St. Camillus, holding a rosary that she prayed regularly. She was a life-long resident of Syracuse, NY and faithful communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where she belonged to many parish organizations over the years. Gen was also very proud of her more than 20 years of volunteer work at Upstate University and Community General Hospitals.
Gen was born March 15, 1923 to Victor and Rozalia Faciszewski. She married Michael Maslak in 1947 following his return from naval service during World War II. They had five children, Lorrie (Jim) Williams, Peggy (Joe) Ponichtera, Greg (Sherry) Maslak, all of Syracuse, Joanne (Brad) Crum of Bethesda, MD and Shelley (Gary) Litvin of North Port, FL. Gen's husband, Michael, passed away in 1967. She later spent many enjoyable years working for the Federal government at the Military Entrance Processing Station. In 1981 she married H. James Stimler, who predeceased her in 1999.
In addition to her five children, Gen is survived by her sister, Helen Minasian, thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gen was predeceased by her brothers, John and Erwin, and sisters, Elizabeth Edmonson and Valerie Bubnack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse; followed by internment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Geddes. Friends may call upon the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave.
