Helen M. Popp, 92, of Syracuse passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, February 20, 2020. Helen was raised in Jordan, NY, one of eight children of Leo and Helen Crotty. She graduated from Nazareth College and taught music at Fairmount School. In 1952 she married Thomas F. Popp and they raised eight grateful children during their 65 amazing years of marriage.
Helen was a gifted musician and artist. She enjoyed reading, walking and golfing. She was happiest when spending time with family and her many friends. Helen had great faith, which sustained her throughout her life. She was an active member of the Most Holy Rosary Parish Community. To those who knew and loved her, Helen was the most kind, loving, and unselfish person.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her parents, her brothers; Jack, Robert and Charles, and her sisters; Catherine Manley and Jean Crotty.
Helen is survived by her sisters, Margorie Austin and Maureen Molloy; her eight children: Thomas (Patricia); Eileen; Frederick (Suzanne); John; Jeanne; Sheila Laport; Steven; and Mark (Karen), many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave. Calling hour will be prior to the service from 9am to 10am at the church. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
