We were so sorry to hear of Sr. Kathleen’s passing, she was a beautiful caring soul. Her dedication to the establishment of Francis House and all who passed through was remarkable. We knew her through her association with St. Augustine’s parish and still remember all the times she shared her wisdom with the congregation. She will be missed. Prayers to her family.

Dear Sr Kathy you are a gem to the world. I miss you. You are among the strongest pillars that supported me to successfully pursue graduate studies at Syracuse University. A great mentor you are. My family in Kenya are forever grateful.
Your pastoral sermons at All Saints nurtured me spiritually.
Easter season reminds us that we are all in transition, albeit our bodily conditions. Easter Sunday morning is never the same without the sunrise magical experience at Alverna heights, which you played a significant role in organising.
May God grant Sr. Kathy's soul eternal peace.

Sr.Ann Matthew/Kathleen Osbelt and I worked together at St Matthews School in Riverside, NJ 1975-80. We shared ministering in music playing guitars, singing for Masses there and at St Joseph’s in Hoboken, NJ. Sister comforted me at the liss of my beloved grandmother. She, Sister Joyce Karina and Sister Pamela Conte were a musical and spiritual group. Sister Kathleen told me recently if her moving to the Villa so I thought the cancer was a recent diagnosis. Her mother was a gracious hostess to us. Kathleen was a quiet, meditative soul. She reminds me of why I do miss the Community. Pax et Bonum dear Kathleen. Sleep with the angels.

Sister Kathleen was such a support to my family, as serveral members were residents at Francis House. Her presentations on dealing with grief were immensely helpful to me. Kathleen's deep faith, compassion and love endeared her to us and she made everyone feel like we were all her best friends and family. She left a legacy of love to always be cherished. It was a pleasure to work with Sister Kathleen as the night nurse at Francis House on opening day and for two years later. She was a beautiful soul whose love for everyone could not be matched. In the last card and note I received from her, she told me to remember that "God always has your back." Rest in peace Sister and looking foreward to seeing you at the Eternal Banquet.

Heaven has another saint! It rained all day the day you passed...earth was mourning our loss as heaven was sending us a reminder that your soul has so much Grace! Your compassion for others, for those at the end of their earthly journey, was outstanding. "Preach the gospel of the Lord...if necessary...use words." You did...and we are grateful. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Our sympathy to your sisters and families and the Sisters of St. Francis...Rest in peace Kathy, pray for us as we pray for you.

I knew Sister back in 1972. She, her good friend Sister Joette, and I, shared a friendship, that included visits to her mother’s home in Lyncourt. Sister knew my parents from her visits to my home. I have fond memories of backyard barbecues at my home. It was an honor and privilege to have known her for such a long time. She will be in my prayers. My deepest sympathies are with her family. She is with the Lord, resting peacefully.

Sr. Kathy and I worked together as plans were underway for construction of the Francisan Villa. I also took care of her precious dog, Honey on a few occasions! It was a privilege to know Sr. Kathy and work with her. I loved her book, Glimpses of God in You and Me. I quoted some excerpts from her book in a recent sermon I gave at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. She is now resting in the loving arms of God.
Peace and blessings,
Cindy Adamowsky

My path crossed Kathy’s many times over the years. As a young sister I was stationed in Solvay. Later we both studied at Boston College. We were both involved in residential programs for people living with HIV. I also had occasion over the years to visit Alverna Heights and finally we were both leaders as part of the Franciscan Pilgrimage Program. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed.
