Obituary of Christine Edinger

Chris was a secondary mathematics teacher in the West Genesee School District for 36 years.  She was a graduate of Tully High School and received her BA in Secondary Math Education and MS in Curriculum and Development, along with numerous post-graduate hours, at SUNY Oswego. Not only was she a dedicated classroom teacher, but she also taught adult education, summer school, and numerous students who owe their passing math Regents scores to her tutoring skills.  She served as president of the Westar Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, took an active leadership role in school committees and initiatives, was on the board of the Syracuse University-West Genesee Teaching Center, and still found time to be the varsity cheerleading coach for ten years. She was an avid golfer, SU sports fan, music and concert lover, traveler, gardener, movie fan, and enjoyed anything taking place on or near the water.

Chris was predeceased by her mother Genevieve (1992), father, Justin (2019), and infant brother Kent. She is survived by brothers Kurt (Marlene) Edinger, Kelan (Beth) Edinger, sister Karin Edinger, two beloved nieces Nicole and Kaitlyn Edinger, and many loving cousins and friends.

There will be no calling hours.  A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Syracuse on Friday September 2, 2022 at 10am.    Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Otisco.                              

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Chris's name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Francis House, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or the Food Bank of CNY.
