Obituary of Terrence Michael Joseph Benson

 Terrence M. Benson 87, formerly of Syracuse and Washingtonville, NY, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, surrounded by his children. The son of the late John and Eileen Benson, he was born in London, England before emigrating to the United States in 1958. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a retired New York City Transit Police Detective, and he was proud to be an American citizen.

Terrence is survived by his children, John (Catherine) Benson, Patricia (John) Kinsella, Marybeth (Roy) Galewski, Ellen Powers, and Kevin Benson, as well as 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his parents, wife Evelyn, brother John, and great-granddaughter Landry Rose Valentin.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 18 between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM at Most Holy Rosary Parish, 111 Roberts Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13207.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with Fr. Fred Mannara officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd, Syracuse, NY 13215.
