Richard (Dick) D. Gosson – December 26, 2024
Surrounded by family, Dick Gosson died peacefully on December 26th after a brief illness. Dick was born on July 28, 1938 to Richard and Anna (Wallace) Gosson. Dick is predeceased by his brother and best friend John, sisters Anne Gadbaw and Elizabeth Kerrigan.
Dick is survived by the love of his life of 64 years Mary Ann Tefft, his children Rick (Carol), Laurie (John), Kelly (Matt), and Jonathan (Jennifer), his grandchildren, Chad, Ryan John Richard, Anna, Nathan, Shannon, Avery, Spencer, Connor, Megan. and great grandchild, Henry and many nieces and nephews.
Dick grew up in Tipperary Hill and graduated from St. Patrick’s School in 1957. Dick would often tell stories of growing up in Tipp Hill and still kept in touch with many of his friends from the neighborhood. Dick retired from Key Bank in 1990’s. After retiring from Key Bank, he still continued to hold several part time jobs because he believed in hard work and did not want to be still. Dick was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. Dick was devoted to his Catholic faith and you often would see him saying the rosary in private or while driving. Dick was proud to be an Eagle Scout, and was even prouder when his grandson Chad became an Eagle Scout. He was so proud of all his grandchildren. Whenever he would see them his Irish eyes would always smile. Dick loved travelling to Florida in the winter with Mary Ann, would plan his trip months in advance and then as soon as they arrived in Florida, would start planning his trip back home.
Dick was a member of the Tom Dooley Choraliers and loved to sing an Irish tune. He was also a member of Ancient Order of Hibernians. In the younger years, St. Patrick’s Day was a celebration at the parade with family and friends. He was a loyal SU Fan. Dick spent many summers boating in Clayton. He would not venture too far in the waters, worried that the boat would breakdown.
Calling hour will be on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 10:30 -11:30am at St. Patrick's Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be following immediately at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
